Yue Shi withdrew his gaze from Feng Rujiao and grasped Yun Zhi Yue's arm. "Sister, let's go home."
Yun Zhi Yue felt a warmth in her heart and nodded, wanting to rise but was firmly held in Nie Xi's embrace. "Sister, you didn’t even finish dinner with me. Can I go home with you?"
Yun Zhi Yue paused. "But your health..."
Yue Shi interjected, "Sister, take him home. The hospital can't help him. I've recently been working on a treatment for leukemia; perhaps I can help him survive."
He is a legitimate adopted child of the Nie Family and has inheritance rights. Zhi Yao Yan Tuan is a family business, and since Nie Zhui isn’t getting married or having children, he will inherit a lot of shares. Our family can support him.
Yun Zhi Yue's mouth fell open. "What do you want the Nie Clan's shares for?"
"To exchange for money," Yue Shi replied succinctly.
But our family doesn’t lack money!
"Nobody ever complains about having too much money. Saving his life shouldn't come for free. I see that you quite like him, so let’s keep him at home as a pet. A sickly little boy is certainly more pleasing to the eye than an old man."
Nie Langyuan's face turned pale and flushed at the same time. "Who are you calling an old man? Brother He, do you have no pride? Can this brat even speak properly?"
Nie Xi's eyes sparkled like stars as he tightly hugged Yun Zhi Yue and said, "Sister, please take me home."
Who could refuse such a charming young boy? Yun Zhi Yue nodded, "Alright then."
As the three were about to leave, Feng Rujiao’s expression changed slightly. "Xiao Xi, didn’t you say you wanted treatment? Don’t tell me you don’t need me to find a doctor for you anymore?"
Nie Xi replied expressionlessly, "Who are you?"
Feng Rujiao had never seen someone turn so cold so quickly; she couldn’t help but frown.
"You called me asking for help to live. I only helped because of your father’s face. How are you speaking to me now?"
Nie Xi scoffed, "I don’t need you. You’re just Ru Jiao Aunt to me. If I don’t need your help, then go die somewhere else. Get out of my way; you're blocking me and my sister."
Seeing Feng Rujiao pushed aside by Nie Xi, Yun Zhi Yue felt a sense of satisfaction. Indeed, no one could feel comfortable in front of a sickly boy like him when he was acting up; he would knock everyone out of his way.
After the three left, Nie Zhui spoke up, "Have you been harsh on Yun Zhi Yue?"
Feng Rujiao paused for a moment before smiling. "You really took that seriously? I've been in Beijing all my life; everything about you is known to me. What kind of nonsense is that?"
Nie Zhui nodded, seemingly not wanting to dig deeper into the matter.
"You don't need to be here, Nie Xi. Return to the capital," Feng Rujiao said, her hands elegantly clasped in front of her.
"What do you think will happen if the elders of the Nie Family and Feng Family find out that you have taken an interest in an orphan?" she continued.
Is this a threat? Nie Zhui asked quietly.
As long as you don't cross the line, it isn't. If you choose to abandon me, that wouldn't be a threat but a consequence; you would be putting her life at risk.
The atmosphere between them grew tense and cold. Nie Langyuan quickly stepped in to diffuse the situation. "This is all a misunderstanding. Ru Jiao, what are you thinking? My brother would never look at anyone else. We're here for Yun Yue Shi."
