That night, the three siblings drank themselves into a stupor. The two younger brothers could sleep anywhere, but as soon as dawn broke, Yun Zhi Yue got up to go back to work.
Although Nie Xi had no memories of their past together, she felt it necessary to show him some attitude when he dared to say he would ruin her. She decided not to see him for a few days and wanted to see how anxious he would get.
With a mischievous grin, she swept the floor, feeling much better despite her hangover.
During lunch, while sitting on a park bench eating steamed buns, someone sat down next to her and handed her a beautifully packaged lunch box.
With a warm meal offered right in front of her, why would she eat cold buns? Without any pretentiousness, she accepted it and started eating, not even bothering to say thank you; she simply couldn’t muster the politeness towards Nie Zhui.
As Yun Zhi Yue enjoyed her meal, Nie Zhui smiled and handed her a drink with a straw. Watching her sweat lightly under the sun, he asked curiously, “Why do you do this job?”
Yun Zhi Yue replied irritably, “Naturally, it’s to protect the environment. Everyone has a responsibility.”
“Honestly,” he pressed.
“You want the truth? I’m afraid you’ll think it’s even more ridiculous,” she retorted.
Nie Zhui was serious. “Tell me.”
Pointing her chopsticks at the sky, Yun Zhi Yue said, “It’s conscious and thinks I’m the bad guy. It forces me to sweep the streets for life to restrict any suspicious actions of mine. If I don’t sweep, it threatens our Sister Three’s life.”
After a moment of silence, Nie Zhui replied thoughtfully, “How can we kill this consciousness? Nie Jiaqi can’t be sweeping forever; we need to think of a solution.”
Suddenly, thunder rumbled in the clear sky.
Yun Zhi Yue’s expression turned strange. No wonder they called him Tian Di Yue Qi; his words could indeed make the heavens tremble. After all, he had the ability to say such things.
Looking at the sky didn’t seem like rain was coming; Nie Zhui didn’t notice the thunder either. At that moment, he wouldn’t have thought that his words had caused such a reaction.
In the afternoon, when Yun Zhi Yue returned to work, she repeatedly urged Nie Zhui to leave. However, he stubbornly followed her down the street under the sun.
Yun Zhi Yue was speechless and asked while sweeping, “At your age and from your family background, don’t you have a fiancée or something? Why are you constantly bothering me?”
“I have a fiancée; we were betrothed when we came of age,” he replied.
Yun Zhi Yue was shocked. “Betrothed at such a young age! So that girl is about your age? You’re still not married? Does that mean this engagement will last forever? Isn’t that just turning her into an old maid?”
“She’s my age. I’ve told her many times that I won’t marry her and that she should find someone else, but she refuses.”
Yun Zhi Yue rolled her eyes. “You’re really terrible! You have a fiancée and still want me to act like Nie Jiaqi? Are you afraid she won’t stab you with a knife?”
"You don't need to worry about this. As long as you nod, no one can disturb our marriage. I will take care of everything."
"Ha! How will you solve it? The other party has been waiting for a year. It's clear they are stubborn. If they have a marriage contract with you, they must come from a prestigious background. You've been single for so long, but once someone else appears, that woman will surely turn dark."
"Putting that aside, I don't like you and have no intention of being with you. You don't need to waste your time on me."
The two of them fell into another argument, but Nie Zhui remained undeterred. She accompanied her home after work.
Upon seeing the Gothic-style villa, she was momentarily stunned, likely overwhelmed by its beautiful exterior. She managed to utter some compliments before driving away.
The next day, she appeared right on time by her side, continuing to follow her.
For three consecutive days, Yun Zhi Yue felt like she would be sick of the sight of him; even her dreams at night were filled with his face.
