Yun Zhi Yue felt as if she had worked both the day and night shifts without a break, her fatigue evident in the dark circles under her eyes as she stepped into the hospital. She was desperately in need of sleep, but there was no time for that; her troublesome younger brother still required her attention.
It wasn't that she particularly enjoyed sweeping the streets, but when one was under someone else's roof, they had to lower their head. The higher-ups were keeping an eye on her, and she couldn't afford to abandon her objectives and risk being kicked out.
What a dilemma!
It was all fun and games at first, but now it felt like a funeral pyre; one should learn to be discreet.
As she reached the floor of the Emergency Room, she noticed several pairs of eyes turning toward her. Yun Zhi Yue glanced around the room—was this some sort of roundtable conference? There were so many people here!
She removed her expensive suit jacket and placed it on the row of chairs. Yun Shijiu eagerly helped her sit down.
"You're exhausted from staying up all night, come sit down. I told you not to worry about it; it's just a small matter. I can handle it; besides, there's Brother who will clean up the mess."
Yun Zhi Yue sighed. "Can't you let me relax a bit? Your brother is busy enough with his own research; he doesn't need to worry about you too."
No matter how close their brotherly bond was, she couldn't rely on him entirely. He was a man, not a boy; he needed to learn self-control. How could he resort to violence at the drop of a hat?
Yue Shi gently patted Yun Zhi Yue's arm. "Don't worry, Sister. Shijiu is my brother; it's my duty to take care of him. He has that temperament; he can't change."
If he didn't calm down, it would drive me crazy, thought Yun Zhi Yue with some relief.
The expressions of those observing Sister Three and her brothers were quite peculiar. Just moments ago, they had wished each other dead, yet now they seemed like loving siblings?
Had they really been so ruthless with each other just before? Did their sister not notice how they interacted?
One had to admit that the two brothers were putting on quite a show—was their sister truly that oblivious?
Bai Xun watched the interaction between Sister Three and her brothers with wide eyes, then suddenly knelt before Yun Zhi Yue, clutching her legs and crying.
"You are Shijiu's sister! You have to help me! He’s trying to drive me to my death!"
Yun Zhi Yue remained composed and showed no intention of helping this pregnant woman. Her tone was calm and devoid of emotion.
"Don't rush; take your time explaining. If Shijiu has done something wrong, I will certainly address it."
Bai Xun felt a glimmer of hope and immediately began to recount her tale through tears.
After listening, Yun Zhi Yue summarized: "So what you're saying is that you two have been involved a few times, and then you discovered you were pregnant. You wanted to give the child a home and sought Shijiu's responsibility, but he humiliated you and kicked you out of his office."
"Your brother was furious upon hearing this and wanted Shijiu to give you an explanation. After an argument broke out between both parties, the hospital notified you, and fearing that Shijiu would deny it, you planned to expose everything through the media."
At that moment, your father had just hit someone and was being asked for a huge medical fee. You suspected that my brother, Yue Shi, had a hand in this, and now you felt trapped, right?
Bai Xun nodded blankly, "That's right."
Yun Zhi Yue shook her head, "It's not like that. The root of this issue lies in your pregnancy. From start to finish, you have no evidence to prove that this child is Shijiu's. With technology being so advanced, it's easy to conduct tests. You know in your heart who the father of the child is. If we lay everything bare, you just want to live your life; that's not a crime.
How about this: you know Shijiu well. A woman never stops; having one more or one less doesn't matter much. I can have Shijiu help you resolve this situation regarding your father. We will cover the maximum compensation for the injured parties.
If you don't want to undergo tests that might harm the baby, I can understand. You can keep the child and give birth; if it's Shijiu's, we will acknowledge it. If it's not, you need not worry."
