In the aftermath of the Immortal Flame, the orange-red fire consumed everything in its path, leaving behind an eerie emptiness. A man dressed in tattered hip-hop attire bent down, wielding a shovel as he dug into the charred earth.
As he worked, a blue rope around his neck slipped, revealing a glimmering red gemstone that bounced out. Jiang Yu paused, stuffing the stone back into his collar before resuming his digging. He excavated nearly all the soil in the vicinity until he finally unearthed a section of a woman's corpse that showed no signs of decay.
Jiang Yu lifted it triumphantly, a broad grin spreading across his doll-like face, making him look even more endearing. "I've found a third of the body! I can't wait to see what kind of power this holds!" Without wasting a moment, he broke through another Gui Jing and continued his search for the next one.
Those who caught sight of Jiang Yu couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. Throughout history, only one person had managed to shatter Gui Jing through sheer force—he was Jiang Yu. Although not listed on the Top Ten List, he was known by all for being the strongest in the realm.
Years ago, as a mere child still in elementary school, he was summoned into the Eerie Game, facing off against a Gui Jing level challenge right from the start. Everyone believed he would surely perish; however, his mother on the Top Ten List remained unfazed, as if she had some unshakeable confidence.
His mother was among the elite of the Top Ten List, and many held high hopes for him. Yet no one anticipated that their expectations would be met with such shock. In that Gui Jing encounter, while he was the only survivor, he successfully eradicated the strange abilities without taking any for himself; instead, he casually tossed them to his dear brother Jiang Bai.
It wasn't that he was unaware of how rare these abilities were; rather, his own awakened flame far surpassed those of anyone on the Top Ten List. From that moment on, Jiang Yu became synonymous with an era—a time when humanity gradually overpowered the bizarre.
Every time he participated in the Eerie Game, he would emerge with abilities to spare; some he gifted freely to others while others he exchanged for money—completely at his whim. Many speculated that he was not human at all because he never aged; even as his mother grew old and passed away, he still appeared to be in his twenties.
The government harbored ill intentions towards him, hoping to capture him for research on immortality. However, their laboratories were engulfed in flames and turned to ashes in an instant, incinerating all ambitions they had harbored.
The phrase "beyond human reach" became synonymous with Jiang Yu in every nation's assessment of him. From that point onward, Jiang Yu's patriotic fervor cooled; he ceased aiding others in acquiring strange abilities. No matter how dissatisfied the government became, they could only allow him to come and go as he pleased.
Heard that he is searching for the dismembered body. Perhaps one day, the name Jiang Yu will vanish from this bizarre realm. When the realm cannot satisfy the desires of those who reach the peak, one can only seek another realm.
**Short Side Story (Xian Kong)**
The girl with twin ponytails was cleaning the corners of a wheelchair with a cloth, while Xian Kong sat in the wheelchair, gazing through the floor-to-ceiling window at the bustling crowd below the skyscrapers.
"Morning Dawn, don’t you ever feel like you’ve lived enough?"
The girl cleaning the wheelchair didn’t look up. "I’m still young; I haven’t reached that state of mind. You’ve already cleared the Eerie Game, yet you’re still pretending to be normal and playing with us. What’s your goal?"
Xian Kong reached out as if to grasp the crowd below. "To live, of course. In this bizarre realm, I’m the only one liberated; it feels like I’m the one abandoned."
Morning Dawn picked at the dust in the wheelchair's crevices. "I don’t understand you. You’re clearly at your peak but insist on saying you’ve been abandoned. But if it weren’t for you continuing to participate in the game, I wouldn’t have been saved by you. Maybe I would have been killed in the first round of the Eerie Game."
Xian Kong ruffled Morning Dawn’s hair. "The person Song Huai is looking for must be special. Perhaps I’ll have a chance to live in another realm, where I can be just one of the ordinary people again."
**Short Side Story (Hei Shijiu)**
Ah!
A rough scream echoed throughout the Underworld, followed by a dark figure racing past Nai He Bridge, running for dear life.
The denizens of Hell squinted to see better; their eyes widened in shock as they recognized that it was Hei Shijiu, running with blood seeping from his rear end.
Behind him was a flying Huang Quan biting at him—a pet of San Sheng Da Ren. What had Hei Shijiu done to offend San Sheng Da Ren?
As he dashed through Second Hall, Hei Shijiu covered his backside and cried out for help. "Prince Ming Yin, save me! That woman from Three Lives is too protective! I said Meng Po was causing trouble at Xiao Jie; she didn’t punish her subordinates, so why let her fish bite me?"
A stern man dressed in a black Yan Luo robe appeared and waved his sleeve to drive away Huang Quan's biting fish. Ming Li sent him.
Frowning at Hei Shijiu, who was covering his rear, he said, "Three Lives is overly protective. If you go complain, being able to cover your backside on your way back means she showed mercy; it’s your own doing. How about King of Hell?"
Just then, Hei Shijiu’s expression turned serious. "The physical body is dead, but this fragment of soul has no memories. I saw him lurking in Ninth Hall; it seems suspicious."
No memories but wanting Huo Huo and Yin Xing? For what purpose? Ming Yin pondered.
Hei Shijiu suspected, "I think it has something to do with Meng Po. The Lord Reincarnation Stone is with her, which means every time Meng Po Yun Zhi Yue is near King of Hell."
They are still in that kind of relationship; I’m not sure if King of Hell is aware of his own consciousness. But that woman isn’t someone easy to deal with; plus, she seems to have some connection with the Celestial Realm. I fear she may have ulterior motives.
Ming Yin's eyes glinted coldly. "Is it related to the Celestial Realm? Are you sure?"
"Absolutely," came the reply. "With Xiao Jie's spiritual power and spells, no one without a certain status in the Celestial Realm could possibly wield them. It is definitely connected."
After a moment of silence, Ming Yin continued, "Only the previous generation of Meng Po knows about Yun Zhi Yue's background. Pass on my order and summon her back."
Hei Shijiu bowed deeply. "Yes, my lord, I will go at once."
"Once you return, take care of Song Huai. Be sure not to harm his soul."
Hei Shijiu hesitated for a moment. "Your Highness, could we send someone else? Huo Huo... I..."
Feeling the chill in Ming Yin's gaze, Hei Shijiu quickly added, "I am willing to serve you with utmost loyalty. I take my leave."
As he stepped out of the Second Hall, Hei Shijiu wore a look of frustration.
In this day and age, working was no easy task; overtime was expected, and one had to bow and scrape. Even when injured, one had to endure it alone. Securing a position was truly a challenge.
No wonder Meng Po had resorted to using seduction to catch the King of Hell; with that connection, she would never have to worry again in this lifetime.
