Three people formed a team, and the living room was filled with no more than ten teams at most. Including the various men sitting on the stairs, there were just over thirty individuals. This was far fewer than what Yun Zhi Yue had anticipated, to the point that their presence together seemed somewhat conspicuous, though still acceptable.
Upon meeting the gaze of a man at the stairway, several of them felt a shift in their expressions and promptly stood up to approach. The entire hall fell silent.
There were people of all ages, each wearing a stiff expression akin to that of a corpse, as if they were paralyzed. The man leading them was relatively young, in his teens, and looked decent enough, though he wore an odd façade.
He stood before Yun Zhi Yue and spoke: "We belong to the Ten Halls of Yama."
Yun Zhi Yue nodded in response: "I’m from the bridge, affiliated with San Sheng Da Ren."
The man's expression changed slightly, seemingly surprised. "You are Yun Zhi Yue, right? Didn't you just take office? How did you end up here?"
Everyone knew that with advancements in technology, there wasn't much left for him to do on the bridge. San Sheng Da Ren had sent him out to handle some odd jobs so that when performance evaluations came around, he could avoid some blame.
"Odd jobs? What kind of work?"
Yun Zhi Yue narrowed his eyes slightly. "Well, that's hard to say. Aren't you all curious about why you're here?"
The man's gaze turned slightly cold, and the atmosphere shifted.
"Ah, that statement might not be right. Are you planning to take action against me? We’re not in the same department; there’s no hierarchy between us."
"Is there something wrong with what I said? Or did I stumble upon something I shouldn’t have? Are you planning to silence me?"
Miao Miao's expression was peculiar. Wasn't Yun Zhi Yue supposed to keep a low profile and avoid being a troublemaker? What was with this inexplicable tone of provocation?
Behind him, someone tilted their head slightly, gathering black smoke in their hand—that was Underworld Power.
Yun Zhi Yue scoffed. "Go ahead and try to kill me. How many people are there under San Sheng Da Ren? If one less is missing, do you think she won’t personally investigate? I can turn a blind eye to your actions, but in front of San Sheng Da Ren, do you really want to maintain this attitude?"
"Hey! Don’t use my wife’s name like that! She’s sleeping soundly and doesn’t even know you’ve left Nai He Bridge."
"Stop calling her 'wife'! Sister San Sheng doesn’t like you; you’re just being self-indulgent and annoying."
"Come on, Yun Zhi Yue! Have you forgotten how to flatter me? If it weren’t for your connection to San Sheng, do you think Shi Ye would even bother with you?"
"Ha, you were just trying to get me to help you chase after that girl. We're both in the same boat, so let's not point fingers at each other!"
With a smirk, he chose to mute himself, a good man doesn't argue with a woman.
After a brief standoff, they turned back to glance at each other, and that person retracted their Underworld Power.
It was just a misunderstanding; since they each had their own tasks, they decided to let each other be and go about their business.
Yun Zhi Yue curled her lips into a smile and said, "Don't worry, I have a poor memory. The Ten Halls of Yama? Who would want to provoke that?"
She glanced at him and extended her hand.
Yun Zhi Yue passed over three triangular pieces containing Suffering, secretly relieved as she brushed past the group.
However, her relief was premature. Just as Miao Miao walked by the last person in the group, a Golden Orb suddenly appeared before him, hovering and vibrating in mid-air.
The man's expression brightened: "Qi Yun Zhi Zhu, capture her!"
