In the vast sea of people, searching was no easy task. After ten exhausting days, they had only managed to find four, and that was only after reuniting with Jiang and the others.
Strangely enough, Jiang's group had evidently encountered trapped players as well and had activated the quest mode for finding the Red Umbrella. However, Jiang and Miao Miao's teammates were not veteran players; instead, it was that middle-aged balding man, Huang Yu, one of her team members.
It was simply bizarre. During the chaos at the inn, everyone had been wiped out by Song Huai's ultimate attack, and shortly after, Red Umbrella had unleashed their own devastating move. How had he survived?
At that moment, Yun Zhi Yue hadn’t even had a chance to ask; Jiang was clearly in bad shape, his back rotting away and the bandages reeking.
The trio had formed a small team, with Miao Miao relying on Jiang’s abilities for offense. The strength she had been holding onto shattered upon seeing Yun Zhi Yue; tears streamed down Miao Miao’s face uncontrollably.
Supporting Jiang, she pleaded urgently, “Yun Zhi Yue, please save Jiang! He was ambushed while trying to rescue me. I found a place to take shelter from the rain, and when Yun Zhi Yue laid Jiang down, she pulled up his shirt to reveal his back.
It was a gruesome sight—flesh rotting away in places where bone was already exposed. It was astonishing that he still retained consciousness while standing.
How pitiful! Had he been injured first and then soaked in rainwater that corroded him?
Miao Miao nodded immediately. “Yes! After we escaped from the inn, we were chased by Red Umbrella. At that time, Jiang was fighting it off but didn’t expect another umbrella to attack me.”
He had pulled me back just in time but got stabbed instead. After that, we lost our umbrella while fleeing from the rain; he used his body to shield me from it, and this is what happened to his back.
Yun Zhi Yue chuckled as she poked Jiang’s head with her little braid. “How strange! In this game of death, there really are feelings that can blossom. Jiang, you’ve developed feelings for her, haven’t you?”
Jiang lay on the ground, his eyes flickering without making a sound; Miao Miao couldn’t lift her head in embarrassment.
Yet she gathered her courage; after all this time, their relationship had long since evolved beyond mere friendship. “Yun Zhi Yue, can you save him? I’ll do anything you ask.”
Jiang turned his gaze toward the anxious girl beside him. “If I die, you can ask Yun Zhi Yue to give you my abilities.”
Yun Zhi Yue didn’t shy away from the idea: “That’s definitely possible! This is a Top Ten List ability; if you get it, your chances of survival will increase significantly. I support this idea.”
Miao Miao rejected it without a second thought: “No need! He will protect me even if he’s alive; I don’t like fighting.”
Jiang scoffed at her response: “Foolish.”
“Who are you calling foolish? Do you even realize how serious this is? I shouldn’t have bothered with you; I should just let you die!” Miao Miao retorted angrily.
Yun Zhi Yue was indeed busy tending to Jiang’s wounds.
Liu Ying squinted his eyes. "You are not an ordinary Eerie Guide. The eerie beings don’t usually speak so kindly to humans, nor do they have the ability to strip players of their skills. What are you?"
At that moment, Tuotou Huangyu was also staring intently at Yun Zhi Yue, his expression different from before.
Yun Zhi Yue smirked playfully. "Song Huai, what do you think I am?"
Song Huai reached out and teased Yun Zhi Yue, saying, "You are my woman."
"You're really greasy," she retorted. "Just because we slept together once doesn’t mean anything. Remember this: you should treat me with more respect in the future."
Song Huai smirked, his blue eyes filled with a predatory desire. "That might not be possible. After all, I enjoy hearing you cry. If one time doesn’t count, then let’s do it a few more times."
Damn it, Huang is no match for this guy. Yun Zhi Yue chose to remain silent.
A Black Emei Spike appeared in her hand as she ruthlessly scraped off the rotting flesh from Jiang Jibei.
"Ah, damn! You could have warned me first!"
