Yun Zhi Yue woke up with a throbbing headache, only to find herself in a neatly excavated cave. The interior was not dark; the walls were embedded with numerous glowing gemstones. Although their light was not particularly bright, the sheer quantity of them combined to illuminate the cave as if it were daytime.
Where is this place?
Before she could grasp the situation, her arm, propping her up, brushed against something cool.
Looking over, she was somewhat surprised. She understood that the humanoids in the Azure Tower Continent were all beastmen, yet the handsome man beside her, seemingly gravely injured, made her suspicious. It wasn't that he was exceptionally good-looking; rather, his attire, which resembled human clothing, momentarily disoriented her into thinking she had returned to the human world.
His light green garments were not woven from silk but seemed more like a type of plant fiber. The simple design of his long shirt and pants accentuated his body’s graceful lines, giving him an aesthetic appeal. He had a cool and elegant demeanor; while he was handsome, she felt he paled in comparison to her two snakes—at least that’s how she perceived it.
Listening to his faint breaths, Yun Zhi Yue began to piece together why she had been captured. As she surveyed her surroundings, a group of small creatures with sharp mouths and round bodies covered in scales rushed in.
Upon seeing her awake, they immediately stood upright on their sharp forelimbs and transformed their bodies into humanoid forms.
Yun Zhi Yue thought to herself that these creatures resembled pangolins; no wonder they could dig holes.
A variety of handsome men appeared, yet there wasn't a single female among them.
“Hey, don’t be scared! We brought you back not to harm you but to ask for your help to save our elder brother. We are Chuan Shi Shou; we are gentle by nature and different from those cold-blooded serpents.”
Chuan San nudged Chuan Jiu, who had been speaking: “Can you even talk? Her partners are two snakes; what nonsense are you spouting?”
Chuan Jiu rubbed the back of his head and quickly corrected himself: “Uh, I misspoke. What I meant was that those slippery Serpent Clan members are not like us; our bodies are warm.”
“Just shut up,” seven of the eight beastmen chimed in unison.
Yun Zhi Yue couldn’t help but laugh; these beastmen were quite amusing, especially the one who spoke. It was clear they were easygoing and meant no harm.
“You want me to save someone? You can go to the Serpent Clan for help. By abducting me like this, my partners will worry.”
One of the calmer beastmen spoke up: “Forest Spirit, we apologize. Our elder brother is too injured to be moved, and the Serpent Clan is not easy to deal with. We truly have no other choice but to resort to this desperate measure. We implore you to help us save our elder brother; I promise we will return you to your partners afterward.”
Now that she was here, no matter how respectful these beastmen were, it did not change the fact that she was a captive. Yun Zhi Yue could only agree.
She reached out to examine the injuries of the man lying down and was taken aback by their severity. Such internal injuries would surely be fatal if they were inflicted on a human.
In the midst of eight anxious gazes, Yun Zhi Yue pondered for a moment and said, "I can treat it, but you need to take me outside to look for herbs. My description is too complicated, and you might misidentify them."
Several of them immediately agreed, leaving four behind to guard the house while the rest followed Yun Zhi Yue without hesitation.
