Wen Ningmo hurriedly arrived at Zhao Prison, carrying a medicine box. Upon seeing the whip marks on Luo Bai's body, she gasped.

Wen Ningmo shivered. Was Luo Bai truly suffering from some sort of madness from abuse?
At the Imperial Palace, Yun Zhi Yue found dark guards kneeling on the ground amidst shattered porcelain and ruined memorials soaked in tea.
The Emperor slumped in his chair, his eyes filled with impotent rage after despair.
Upon seeing her enter, a flicker of light appeared in his eyes.
"Consort," he said weakly, "my body has indeed been tampered with; it’s a deadly curse with no remedy. I may not even live to see our Huang Er."
Yun Zhi Yue covered her mouth and immediately burst into tears. "How could this happen? Your Majesty must summon renowned physicians; you will recover! Huang Er and I cannot lose you."
"Your Majesty," she sobbed, "please don’t leave me." Her small face was drowned in tears, and her expression of utter despair struck at the heart of the Reincarnation Stone.
The Emperor felt hopelessness wash over him; her cries deepened his despair.
Yun Zhi Yue blinked through tear-filled eyes: "Your Majesty, you cannot fall ill! If Huang Er loses you, there will be no one to protect him."
"I can follow you to death with just a white silk ribbon," she said desperately. "But Huang Er is innocent; how can such a young child face those who covet the throne? Your Majesty, you cannot abandon Huang Er!"
The Emperor clenched his fists tightly, his eyes gradually turning red with fury.
Indeed, they all wanted to seize the throne and poisoned him for that reason—especially Qin Wang and his son.
