The Reincarnation Stone was astonished: "How did you know this painting holds deeper meaning?"
"I can't explain it," Yun Zhi Yue replied indifferently.
The painting before her, unlike the one where she smiled brightly in the gentle rain, was engulfed in thick darkness. The black background enveloped a pure white figure, seemingly intent on obliterating the girl entirely.
In the midst of the darkness and thorns, a corner revealed a pained expression—that was her. She had done nothing wrong to Yue Tong; his actions likely stemmed from a desire to inflict pain on his father.
What could possibly destroy what someone cherishes most, to the point of breaking their will? For her father, family was everything—Yun. She didn't know what entanglements existed between Yun and Yue Jia Zi, but she understood that Yun loved her.
The Puppet Body was crafted from her soul; they were essentially one person. When completing a mission, she would live earnestly. This was the only way to honor everyone who cared for and loved her.
Since Yue Tong had already chosen his target, she might as well accept the challenge. She would do everything in her power to protect this family.
After capturing this oppressive painting, Yun Zhi Yue called Nan Jing. In business battles, she had always been at a disadvantage; neither she nor the Puppet Body had real experience in the marketplace, but she had Nan Jing.
The freshly minted fiancé was someone she intended to utilize. She thought Nan Jing would be asleep at this late hour; after all, he was a serious CEO with a large company to manage.
However, it turned out he was far more active at night than she expected. While she might have been working on her painting, he was out enjoying drinks with friends.
When Yun Zhi Yue arrived at Huang Fei's place, she saw a familiar table of people and greeted them with a feigned smile. They had all attended her recent engagement; it seemed they were all part of the same circle, each coming from wealthy backgrounds.
Zhou Yu was also there and guided her to sit between Nan Jing and himself.
"They're all from our circle," he explained. "Some friends are heading abroad for development, so we organized this gathering to send them off."
"I suggested you join us," Zhou Yu continued, "but Nan Jing insisted you were asleep. Clearly, the fiancé and wife are in sync."
At the table sat a girl with heavy makeup, who put down her wine glass, her smile tinged with a hint of mockery. Was she sharing a secret understanding with someone? Was it the freshly minted fiancé, or the one she had longed for over the past five years?
The lively chatter at the table fell silent, and Zhou Yu's expression turned cold first. "Zhou Yuan, you've had too much to drink. Take a taxi home. Leave."
"Me? Too much to drink?" He scoffed. "How can you all laugh? Who doesn’t know that Yun Zhi Yue likes you? And now she’s engaged to Jing Ge—does she think this is just a game?"
Nan Jing's wine glass clinked against the table, the sound revealing his displeasure. Yet, Yun Zhi Yue wrapped her arm around Nan Jing's and spoke up first.
"Zhou Yuanmo, if I’m not mistaken, you’re the private daughter of the Zhou family. I can answer your questions."
"Everyone here knows what you’re talking about. Do you think you’re the only one with a voice? Just because others don’t speak doesn’t mean they’re foolish."
"Whether you have your eyes on Nan Jing or are just seeking attention, your actions serve no purpose other than to offend people."
"I can play house because I’m Yun Zhi Yue. You can’t play house because you’re a private daughter who can’t be seen in public. Do you understand me clearly?"
Zhou Yuan slammed his hand on the table and stood up angrily. The man beside him quickly got up to apologize, clearly realizing that Zhou Yuan was brought here by him. Seeing Zhou Yu's displeased expression, he forcefully led Zhou Yuan away.
As they reached the door, Yun Zhi Yue called out again, "If I hear you call me ‘fiancé’ again, be careful—you might lose your teeth."
