Lan Mu choked up upon hearing this, "You child, first get the surgery done, and we can talk about the rest later. How can they repay the two lives they've saved?"
Zhou Yu's heart sank at her words, and he immediately glanced at the cold-faced Nan Jing. This was bad!
Yue Tong gripped Yun Zhi Yue's wrist tightly, as if holding onto her life itself. "Yun Zhi Yue, if I can survive this, will you marry me? I promise to step towards the sunlight in the future, leaving behind everything from the past, and only keeping you close. I will do my best to become the person you like."
Zhou Yu gasped. "Nan Jing, oh Nan Jing, you've really encountered a love trial."
The intensity of the situation escalated; Zhou Yu warned, "Be careful, Nan Jing's emotions are running high."
Ignoring everyone’s anxious expressions, Yun Zhi Yue spoke coldly, "You saved me twice. If both were from the heart, then I am yours, Yun Zhi Yue. I can make any compensation; this isn’t about me injuring my boyfriend to repay you. Yue Tong, I love Nan Jing."
Zhou Yu's eyes widened in shock; he could never have imagined this turn of events.
The surrounding medical staff exchanged glances, their expressions shifting as they looked at Yun Zhi Yue with a hint of surprise. Despite having a boyfriend, could this be a benevolent lie? Perhaps it could inspire hope in the patient.
To refuse so ruthlessly was undeniably cold-hearted towards the man who had saved her life twice and was now hanging by a thread.
Yue Tong seemed unfazed; at this point, Yun Zhi Yue showed no signs of wavering.
A pale smile flickered on her face as she said softly, "Yun Zhi Yue, you always surprise me."
As her grip loosened, Yue Tong fainted.
The doctors quickly wheeled her into the Emergency Room. Yun Zhi Yue looked down at her wrist, marked with bruises from where she had been gripped tightly.
A large hand pressed against her injury to ease the bruising. Nan Jing wrapped his arms around her from behind and asked gently, "Does it hurt?"
Yun Zhi Yue felt a pang in her nose and buried herself in Nan Jing's embrace to calm her racing heart.
Compared to Yue Tong, Nan Jing was clearly different.
She wasn't sure if Yue Tong was truly him, but they resembled each other so much. His injuries were real too; yet she felt that this situation was unusual.
Perhaps it was her inner doubts that tinted her view with prejudice; she thought that Yue Tong's affection seemed insincere.
He would go to any lengths to achieve his goals, even if the process was unbearable for her or inadvertently hurtful—he seemed completely oblivious to it.
Or perhaps it wasn’t that he couldn’t see but rather that he didn’t care enough.
Seeing the two children embrace, Yun Fu made a firm decision. "Xiao Ying, Nan Jing, while you are both here, I have an announcement to make. Regarding Yue Tong, I believe he will be strong enough to handle everything just as he always has."
"As for when you young people want to get engaged, I won't pressure you; it's entirely up to you."
"Nan Jing is the heir of the Nan Family and won't care whether the Yun Family adds any embellishments. Yun Zhi Yue has never shown interest in the company."
"I plan to hand over Yun to Yue Tong for management and will transfer him enough shares. Do you agree?"
Lan Mu was taken aback; she initially didn't want to agree but opened her mouth, glancing at the red light of the operating room, and swallowed her words.
Nan Jing calmly replied, "I only need Yun Zhi Yue to be enough."
Yun Fu then looked at his only daughter.
Yun Zhi Yue was nestled in Nan Jing's arms and mumbled, "Dad says it counts."
Yun Fu let out a sigh of relief, as if a heavy stone had been lifted from his heart. He found a seat directly facing the operating room door and suppressed his anxiousness as he waited.
