"What's the big deal? Some people grow up together but still can't see if they're decent or not," Yun Zhi Yue scoffed, casting a sidelong glance. 0

"Are you really using that term to describe Nan Jing? It seems like you two are truly at odds," Zhou Yu said, astonished. 0

Yun Zhi Yue appeared to be waiting for Nan Jing to apologize. After a long silence without a word from him, her frustration only grew. 0

"Who cares about him? Let's go out for lunch. If I stay here any longer, I'll be too angry to eat," she exclaimed. 0

"Who gave you permission to leave?" Nan Jing suddenly interjected. 0

Yun Zhi Yue shot him a dark look. "I'm your employee, not your servant. Having lunch is a basic right; what gives you the authority to take that away?" 0

Nan Jing pointed at the stack of documents on her desk. "The Nan Family project. If you don't finish your work, lunch will have to wait. Just get it done, and then I'll bring you something back." 0

"I want to go out!" Yun Zhi Yue shouted defiantly. 0

Nan Jing stepped closer, and Yun Zhi Yue's expression flickered—was it guilt or something else? She took a few steps back. 0

"What are you doing?" Yu Ge asked, confused. 0

With her back against the wall, Nan Jing revealed a playful smirk. "Yun Zhi Yue, it's the first time I've seen you afraid of me since we were kids. What do you want me to do now?" 0

He reached behind her and grabbed the suit jacket hanging on the coat rack, playfully pinching her rosy cheek. 0

Nan Jing opened the office door. "Stop staring and come on. This is directed at Zhou Yu." 0

Zhou Yu watched them with an expression that was a mix of intrigue and disbelief, as if he were witnessing a dramatic soap opera unfold. 0

After stealing another glance at Yun Zhi Yue, who was leaning against the wall with her head down, he finally followed them out. 0

At the restaurant, Zhou Yu put down his chopsticks, unable to eat another bite. "So, are you going to explain what's going on?" 0

Nan Jing was blunt and unguarded. "I kissed her last night—on the neck—so keep your distance from her." 0

Zhou Yu gasped in surprise; even with his refined demeanor, he couldn't hide his shock. 0

As men, they both understood what kind of situation would lead someone to kiss another's neck; they were all too aware of it. 0

After a moment of contemplation, Zhou Yu's eyes sparkled with mischief. "I knew something was off about you before; it seems you've finally woken up." 0

This feeling wasn't without its clues; it had started when she began clinging to me. Each time I rejected her, you forced me to call and comfort her. I always sensed something was amiss with you. 0

Even as childhood sweethearts, this level of interference in each other's lives was excessive—almost possessive. 0

Nan Jing froze; he realized that this emotional connection had been there from the start, something he had overlooked. 0

Zhou Yu was right; he despised trouble above all else. If he cared about something, it was only because he expected an equal return. 0

Ke Yun Zhi Yue had invested a lot and sought something in return. His possessiveness was further fueled by Zhou Yu's presence, igniting a stronger fire within him. Nan Jing put down her hands and said, "She still likes you. If you show up less, this meal is on me." 0

Seeing Nan Jing stand up, Zhou Yu chuckled, "So you choose a woman over your brother? You're treating me to a farewell dinner." 0

"Yes," she replied, waving her hand in front of him. "This brotherhood is no longer relevant." 0

As Nan Jing left, Zhou Yu couldn't help but laugh softly. It was wise of him to issue a warning; Yun Zhi Yue had changed significantly. If he continued to harbor feelings for her, it would inevitably affect him as well. 0

Having witnessed too many of his father's romantic escapades from a young age, he never held any expectations regarding love between men and women. But who could really know? 0

Nan Jing remained as perceptive as ever, preemptively cutting off any potential developments before they could even begin. After all these years of knowing her, he had never seen her this anxious, constantly reminding him not to appear. 0

"It's fine," he thought. "I'll just lay low for a while and observe from the sidelines later on. I must witness the development of their relationship with my own eyes." 0

Nan Jing entered the room with a takeout box and placed it on Yun Zhi Yue's desk. He was engrossed in his work, barely acknowledging her presence or the food she had brought. 0
