Nan Jing watched her as she approached, her legs adorned with floral patterns. "What are you looking at? Do you want a drink too?"
He flicked the extinguished cigarette butt into the crystal ashtray. His gaze swept over the woman before him, who wore nothing but his shirt, completely revealing her curves. He calmly asked, "Are you flaunting yourself in front of me like this?"
Yun Zhi Yue was momentarily taken aback and looked down at herself. With a bewildered expression, she replied, "I’m not showing anything but my legs. What’s wrong with that? Since when have you become so conservative? Is your future wife not allowed to wear skirts? You’re really overstepping!"
Nan Jing nodded. "It seems you don’t recognize the problem. No worries, I’ll teach you."
Suddenly, Yun Zhi Yue found herself pushed back onto the sofa, lying on her back. Nan Jing held her wrists with one hand while his other hand gripped her slender ankle, slowly sliding upward.
At first, Yun Zhi Yue protested and then burst into laughter, claiming it tickled as if she thought he was just teasing her. However, Nan Jing’s expression turned serious, his eyes filled with intensity as he continued his advance up her leg.
Feeling threatened, Yun Zhi Yue's expression shifted. "Nan Jing, what are you doing? Let go! If you think this is inappropriate, I’ll just go wait in my room for my clothes."
Unmoved and silent, Nan Jing kept his gaze fixed on her while his hand moved further up her thigh.
Yun Zhi Yue began to struggle and shouted, "Nan Jing, are you out of your mind?"
Her attempts to break free were easily subdued as Nan Jing leaned in closer, burying his face in the crook of her neck. He whispered in her ear, "You don’t realize it yet, but I’m a man who poses a threat to you."
His large hand grazed sensitive areas before slipping under her shirt to squeeze her slim waist. A soft moan escaped Yun Zhi Yue's lips, causing Nan Jing's breath to quicken as he instinctively kissed her neck.
"Come on, keep going!"
Yun Zhi Yue gasped in surprise. At that moment, Nan Jing loosened his grip just enough for her to find an opportunity to escape and retaliated with a slap.
Not caring that his shirt had been lifted and exposed her skin, she stood up with red-rimmed eyes and exclaimed, "Nan Jing, you’ve gone too far!"
Turning away to wipe her tears, she stormed into the bedroom and slammed the door shut behind her, locking it with a loud click.
Nan Jing touched his stinging cheek and looked at the closed door with a mix of desire and shock—yet there was no hint of remorse in his eyes. That slap didn’t wake him; instead, it opened Pandora’s box—there was no turning back now.
Inside the bedroom, Yun Zhi Yue smirked slyly as she climbed onto the bed to rest; there were no tears left on her face.
The next day, when she opened the door, her clothes were already laid out at the entrance, but Nan Jing was nowhere to be seen; he must have gone to the office. Yun Zhi Yue raised an eyebrow, changed into her clothes, and headed to work.
Upon entering, she noticed Nan Jing but chose to ignore him and sat back in her corner office, continuing to handle the mountain of paperwork that had piled up during her absence. The entire morning passed without a word exchanged between them, and even Assistant Huang Bin felt that the atmosphere was off, his footsteps becoming noticeably lighter.
At noon, Zhou Yu arrived. He must have been informed by Nan Jing about the car accident, as he approached with a warm inquiry, visibly relieved once he confirmed that Yun Zhi Yue was unharmed.
"I looked into it yesterday," he said. "The person who hit you was indeed driving under the influence, but he's also a regular at the police station. You suspect someone might have orchestrated this, right?"
Yun Zhi Yue replied frankly, "I suspect Sun Xiaoyue. Just looking at her, it’s clear she’s not doing well. Seeing me probably makes her feel even worse. It’s too much of a coincidence that I had an accident right after I saw her."
Zhou Yu nodded. "I know President Wang well; I’ll dig deeper into that side of things. Have you eaten lunch yet? Want to join me?"
Yun Zhi Yue immediately agreed, "As long as Nan Jing isn’t coming along, I’m in."
Zhou Yu chuckled at her response. "Assistant Huang just mentioned to me that you two don’t seem to be getting along very well. What’s going on with your childhood sweetheart? Is someone planning to leave?"
