"For a killer, there is no absolutely safe place in this world. And from my professional perspective as a killer, this villa, despite its luxury, is quite unsafe. Did you see those towering trees outside? Each one is lush and tall, even higher than the villa itself. For a killer, those trees are the best hiding spots," Ding Yan said.
Ye Ming and the others couldn't help but look towards the large trees. Most of them were Wutong trees, nearly a hundred years old, thick and tall. Indeed, for a killer, they provided an excellent ambush point; with a sniper rifle in hand, one could easily climb up and take aim.
However, the protective array of the Quiet Villa was no joke. Especially with the Blood Corpse as its spirit, it could sense any disturbance within a mile. The killer would likely be eliminated by the Blood Corpse before even reaching the trees to set up an ambush.
"Sister Ding Yan, if this weren't my master's residence, you would be absolutely right about those trees being unsafe. But since this is where my master lives now, it is one hundred percent safe. Even if a killer did come, they wouldn't be able to harm us," Ye Ming said.
Chen Zhi and Lin Yin nodded in agreement. Ding Yan looked uncertain; could this villa really be that safe?
Ding Yan surveyed her surroundings. The air in the villa was indeed pleasant, and it was beautifully decorated with lush greenery and blooming flowers, mist rising like a paradise. However, apart from that, there seemed to be nothing else.
In Ding Yan's view, a safe place should have solid walls and armed guards patrolling. Yet in Jiang Chen's villa, aside from Ye Ming and the others, there was only a white snake; no one else was around.
Ye Ming and Lin Yin were two beautiful girls, delicate like flower petals, while Chen Zhi was an old man. Such a combination hardly screamed safety.
Ding Yan smiled lightly but didn't say much more.
"Miss Ding, please follow me; I'll show you to your room," Lin Yin said.
"Thank you for your trouble," Ding Yan replied politely.
After arranging her room, Ding Yan went to the window. She was cautious; in an unfamiliar place, she always felt insecure—especially knowing that there were killers after her made it even harder to sleep. She frequently walked to the window to observe outside.
The night passed without incident. Ding Yan hardly slept at all; however, thanks to the spiritual energy of the Quiet Villa, she still felt quite refreshed.
As the first rays of morning sunlight streamed into the Quiet Villa, Jiang Chen was already in the courtyard instructing Ye Ming and Chen Zhi on their training.
Ding Yan was curious; she didn't know what kind of teachings Jiang Chen imparted. So she went downstairs to watch from the side.
Ye Ming and Chen Zhi sat on the grass with their hands forming seals in front of their chests. With each breath, they inhaled mist and then exhaled it repeatedly. Ding Yan had some knowledge and realized this wasn't martial arts training but rather a method of Daoist cultivation.
"What use can such breathing exercises have? Can they kill someone?" Ding Yan thought to herself. She felt that while this kind of training might be good for health maintenance, it certainly couldn't lead to killing.
Suddenly, Chen Zhi pointed into the air with a finger. A white energy shot out from his fingertip like a hidden weapon and struck a stone, shattering it into pieces the size of a basketball.
"Chen Zhi, your Spiritual Energy transformation lacks power. The energy transformed from Spiritual Energy is hundreds of times stronger than martial arts Inner Energy projection. You've been training for over half a year and have mastered Qi Refining Art, but you still need to work on controlling your Spiritual Energy projection. Shattering a stone from just ten steps away is far from enough," Jiang Chen remarked.
