“Grandfather, if this is true, then Mr. Jiang is walking into a tiger's den tomorrow. You should advise him not to go,” Alice said kindly.
Jon Delson smiled faintly and replied, “It should be said that it’s a dinosaur entering a tiger’s den. It all depends on whether this big tiger, Hongmen, can swallow a dinosaur.”
“Alright, it’s getting late. You should go back to your room and rest. This matter doesn’t require your involvement; just follow along tomorrow to observe. Remember what your grandfather said: never judge a person by their appearance. Also, I would never harm you. The decisions I make for you are always for your own good. However, there are some things you may not understand; once missed, they can never be reclaimed. Now go back and rest,” Jon Delson said softly.
Alice left with a puzzled expression, seeming to grasp her grandfather's words yet still confused.
Jon Delson approached the window and gazed at the starry sky, letting out a slight sigh. It seemed that tomorrow would be a catastrophe for Hongmen. “To offend those who cannot be offended for the sake of a billion dollars is truly unwise,” he murmured, shaking his head before returning to his room to rest.
The next day at nine in the morning, White and Mary arrived together.
Mary had been unable to sleep all night. Although Hongmen was powerful, Jiang Chen must have some backing to dare come here.
Mary silently prayed that the Huaxia person in Alice's family was not Jiang Chen.
However, upon arriving at Alice's house and seeing Jiang Chen sitting in the hall drinking tea, her heart sank, and her steps faltered.
“What’s wrong?” White asked.
“It’s really him,” Mary stammered, wanting to turn around and leave, but Jiang Chen had already looked up at her.
“I believe we’ve met before?” Jiang Chen said to Mary with a faint smile.
“Mr. Jiang, what a coincidence! You’re here too,” Mary said awkwardly, her nerves getting the better of her.
“Do you remember what I said when I let you go last year?” Jiang Chen asked.
“I remember,” Mary replied, forcing herself to respond; she felt completely out of her depth in front of him.
“It seems my words were not taken to heart,” Jiang Chen continued.
“I—I don’t know about that. I conveyed your words when I returned; as for the decisions of the leader and the elders, that’s beyond my control,” Mary quickly explained.
White listened closely to the conversation between Jiang Chen and Mary. It appeared that this Huaxia person was indeed Mr. Jiang. Observing Jiang Chen closely, White noted that he seemed unremarkable at first glance; however, anyone capable of killing Yan Xiaotian was undoubtedly a formidable expert—at least at the Divine Realm level.
White's martial arts skills were merely at the Inner Energy stage; he naturally did not have the qualifications to provoke Jiang Chen. Yet as a disciple of Hongmen's first elder Li Yunye and a young master of the Robert Family, he was also quite proud.
“You killed Elder Yan and still dare to come here? Do you truly look down on us at Hongmen?” White said coldly as he stared at Jiang Chen.
“Brother White, keep your voice down; don’t offend Mr. Jiang,” Mary urged quietly.
"Hmph, so what if I offended him? Does he dare to kill me? This is the United States, and he can't be so arrogant here," White said loudly.
White was actually feeling a bit nervous, but at a time like this, especially in front of Alice, he couldn't show any signs of weakness. Alice liked strong and assertive men, and today he needed to put on a good show. The stronger Jiang Chen was, the less he could afford to back down.
