The Valley Master struck the ground with his staff, forming a circle.
"Come in!"
I hurriedly ran inside.
The trees and my father were left outside.
The Valley Master held his staff and began to chant a spell.
With each line he recited, he struck the ground with his staff.
I felt at ease and lay down, and the Valley Master supported me slightly. "How are you?"
"My father has awakened."
"He killed my mother."
The Valley Master stomped his foot in anger. "That wicked fiend! I should have never let him out."
"Keeping him locked away is what he deserves for his past actions!"
The Valley Master informed me that my father was known as the Heavenly Lacking Person.
The term Heavenly Lacking Person refers to those with a thin fate.
However, since my father was cruel and ruthless, she could only imprison him.
Unexpectedly, my mother devised a method for prolonging life using a Person of Heavenly Shadow.
Not long ago, my Sister died under mysterious circumstances.
They then turned their attention to the trees.
They intended to use the Tree Spirit to nourish the trees.
The Valley Master took out a gourd and handed it to me; it looked quite fresh, as if it had just been picked.
Holding the gourd, I was unsure of its purpose. "What is this gourd for?"
"It has great significance," the Valley Master said solemnly.
"What should we do next?" I asked, feeling confused.
The Valley Master looked at me. "Go back."
"Go back?"
I shook my head; I didn't want to return. I just wanted to run. The farther away, the better.
"You can't escape."
The Valley Master gazed into the distance. "Your father will definitely find you and turn you into your Sister."
"You and Zhou Xin are both Persons of Heavenly Shadow. With you two, your father will become so powerful that even I won't be able to resist him."
"Right now, he is still missing a catalyst."
The Valley Master looked at me. "And that catalyst is you."
"Me?"
I pointed at myself, my face filled with disbelief. How did I become the catalyst?
"That's right."
The Valley Master continued, "You and your Sister are both Ultimate Yin beings, but you are still young. Your father wants to wait until you grow a bit more before he makes his move."
"But your Sister's death has given him an opportunity."
"Using your Sister's body to nourish a tree, the nutrients from the tree will feed him, making him incredibly powerful."
I felt helpless; I couldn't withstand even one of his attacks. Was I supposed to go back and die?
The Valley Master sighed. "I still have some True Qi left; he can't kill me."
"But you need to be careful!"
I remained silent, my mood heavy as I walked toward the valley.
"Take this."
The Valley Master handed me a gourd along with several Spirit Talismans. "In a critical moment, they can save your life."
"Thank you, Valley Master."
I returned to the valley holding the gourd and the Spirit Talisman given to me by the Valley Master.
Father was already back.
He was waiting for me inside the valley.
The black spots on his skin had faded, and his complexion began to glow.
"You finally made it," he said with a cheerful smile. "I thought you wouldn't come back."
"You knew I was coming back?"
I tightened my grip on the stack of Spirit Talisman in my hand, watching him warily.
Father glanced at what I was holding, a look of disdain on his face. "Do you think that just because the Valley Master gave you those things, you can defeat me?"
"You brought the Valley Master here; you're just seeking your own death."
"If it weren't for her, you and your mother would have been dead long ago," I shot back, glaring at him.
The smile on Father's face vanished instantly, replaced by a fierce expression. "She shouldn't have interfered in this matter."
"I will kill you to avenge Sister."
I hurled the Spirit Talisman at him.
Father shook the bell, and all the vines attacked me.
I threw the Spirit Talisman, and the branches that were hit shattered into pieces.
But there were simply too many trees; my Spirit Talisman was already halfway gone, and the vines kept surging forward relentlessly.
