The branches of the trees were all entwined around Father, burrowing into his nostrils, mouth, and ears. Father seemed to be in immense pain, struggling violently against the grip of the vines. 0

I reached out, trying to pry the branches away from him, but it was futile. I picked up a knife and attempted to cut through them, but their surface remained unscathed. I then brought over a heavy object to smash them, yet they still held firm. 0

What should I do? What should I do? I was pacing anxiously when suddenly I remembered the small bottle in my hand. I poured the mysterious liquid inside onto the tree's branches. 0

With a sizzling sound, the branches rapidly withered and died before my eyes. They emitted a horrific scream and vanished into thin air. Father also calmed down as the vines perished. 0

Great! It worked! I held the bottle tightly and poured the remaining liquid at the base of the large tree. 0

"What are you doing?" Mother suddenly appeared at the door, holding a knife in one hand and a severed limb of Sister in the other. 0

It was over; I had been discovered. Despair washed over me as I looked at Mother. She approached me step by step, her voice cold and accusatory: "Zhou Ming, what are you doing here?" 0

"Mother... I'm here to save Father," I stammered. 0

Mother glanced back at the towering tree behind her. "Is this what you call saving?" 0

"Only the Tree Spirit can save your father!" 0
"You're going to harm him!" 0
I shook my head desperately. "That's not true, Mother, you've been deceived!" 0
"This is a curse, not a healing!" 0
With that, I turned and ran. 0
Mother grabbed me and pushed me back inside. 0
I caught a glimpse of Father's condition and instantly felt rage coursing through me. "What have you done?!" 0
I quickly darted to the side, trying to escape. 0
Before I could reach the door, countless vines surged toward me, surrounding the entrance and leaving me no way out. 0
I looked at Mother anxiously. "Mother, please wake up!" 0
Mother glared at me coldly. "Zhou Ming, how dare you do this?" 0
I met her gaze. "Mother, you've bled so many times; it must be painful, right?" 0
Her expression changed dramatically. "How do you know that?" 0
I smiled slightly. "I also know that you once used Sister's eyes as an ingredient for your medicine." 0
"If you don't let me go, I'll gouge out your eyes just like Sister's." 0
Mother's face turned pale. "You wouldn't dare!" 0
I stared directly into her eyes. "Want to try me?" 0
She hesitated; after all, I had learned some skills from the valley master. She waved her hand, and the vines quickly parted. 0
Just before the bells rang again, I rushed toward the door. 0
But then I stopped. 0
Father was still lying on the bed, coughing violently as if he might die at any moment. 0
He had always treated me so well; I couldn't leave him here. 0
I turned back and ran to his bedside, lifting him onto my back and setting off. 0

My father was on my back, his breath faint like a wisp of smoke. "Zhou Ming, you..." 0

I interrupted him, "Father, don't speak. I will get you out of here." 0

I carried him to the door and shouted at Mother, "Open the door!" 0

Mother stared at me in silence. 0

I raised my voice, "Hurry up, open the door!" 0

"If you don't open it, I'll gouge your eyes out!" 0

Only then did Mother reluctantly walk to the door and slowly begin to open it. 0

Suddenly, a heavy blow struck my head, and darkness enveloped me as I lost consciousness. 0

Just before everything faded away, I caught a glimpse of an eerie smile on my father's face. 0
