I went to a friend's wedding and unexpectedly encountered my ex-boyfriend, with whom I had been in a relationship for ten years. His girlfriend mentioned that they were about to get married. But then he turned around and offered me two hundred thousand a month to be with him again. What he didn’t know was that I had left him not because of money. 0

I hadn't seen Jiang Yu in five years. Our paths crossed again at a friend's wedding, and I bumped into Yu Tian. Jiang Yu was nearby and caught me just before I fell to the ground. Yu Tian, seeing me in Jiang Yu's arms, reached out to pull me away but accidentally bumped into a waiter. 0

"Sorry," Yu Tian said, her face turning pale as red wine spilled on her dress. Once we separated, she headed to the restroom. 0

While Yu Tian was away, my classmates began gossiping about the reasons behind my breakup with Jiang Yu. 0

"It must be because Su Mei is materialistic; she dumped him when she saw he had no money," one said. 0

"Yeah, now Jiang Yu is a big shot; Su Mei must be regretting it," another chimed in. 0

"I heard Su Mei is not doing well these days; she deserves it for abandoning Jiang Yu," someone else added. 0

Their chatter filled the air, and I felt their judgment weighing down on me. Jiang Yu cleared his throat, silencing the group. 0

"It was her decision to break up," he stated casually, confirming that I had been the one to end things. 0

I lowered my gaze, maintaining a calm expression, but my slightly trembling hands betrayed my emotions. 0

When Yu Tian returned and sensed the awkward atmosphere, she quietly asked, "What’s wrong?" 0

"Nothing, just catching up," Jiang Yu replied nonchalantly. 0

Yu Tian looked at me meaningfully and chuckled softly, "If Su Mei hadn’t let go back then, you wouldn’t have met me now." 0

Her words sparked a wave of schadenfreude among the guests; they seemed pleased by my discomfort. 0

Jiang Yu cleared his throat again to break the tension. "It's all in the past now." 0

I nodded calmly. 0

Yu Tian raised his glass and smiled, saying, “Miss Su, I toast to you, thanking you for your decision to let go back then.” 0

“When we get married, we will definitely invite you.” 0

“…” 0

I smiled faintly and drank the wine in one go. 0

After the wedding, I stood at the hotel entrance waiting for Wang Ting to pick me up. 0

She was still on the phone, indignantly defending me: “Why didn’t you explain yourself when they said those things about you?” 0

“Explain what?” 0

“Explain why you broke up with him back then, tell him it wasn’t for money.” 0

I chuckled softly, “He already has a girlfriend; what’s the point in saying all that? Besides, I’ve already given up on Jiang Yu.” 0

There was a long silence on the other end before Wang Ting finally said, “Let’s talk when I get there. It’s hot outside; find a shady spot to wait.” 0

I hung up and touched my sunburned cheeks. 0

In the distance, Jiang Yu and his girlfriend were walking toward me. 0

His girlfriend linked her arm with his and smiled shyly. “I was so nervous just now that I almost fell; luckily, you caught me.” 0

Jiang Yu didn’t say anything, but his gaze was fixed on me. 0

His girlfriend noticed me too and gave me a meaningful glance. 0

“Yu Ge, I’ll head back first; see you tonight~” 0

Jiang Yu nodded, watching her leave. 0

I instinctively glanced at their parting scene. Before getting into the car, Jiang Yu’s girlfriend showed off the jade pendant around her neck. 0

That was the jade pendant passed down to daughters-in-law from the the Fu Family. Once upon a time, it had hung around my neck too. 0

Jiang Yu’s deep voice broke through my thoughts: “Have you seen enough?” 0

I withdrew my gaze and remained silent. 0

However, many memories flashed through my mind. 0

The day Jiang Yu and I broke up. 0

It was pouring rain outside. 0

I had initiated the breakup while Jiang Yu pleaded with me over the phone. 0

I shook my head firmly: “Jiang Yu, let’s break up.” 0

“Aren’t you well aware that everything I did was for money? Now someone can offer me more; what use do you have!” he shouted in agony. 0

“Su Mei, you’re lying; you must be deceiving me!” 0

“Do you know how cruel this is?” 0

My nose tinged with bitterness as I fought back tears and hung up the phone. 0

Until later, I learned that Jiang Yu had gone abroad as planned. 0

Even though we had broken up, I couldn't let him go. I kept following his news. I knew he had succeeded in his studies after going abroad. I knew he had started a successful business, and his company was growing larger. I also knew he still harbored resentment towards me. 0

I pulled my thoughts back, my eyes already moist. 0

Jiang Yu scoffed coldly, "Su Mei, are you really that short on money right now?" 0

I frowned, "What do you mean?" 0

"How much do you need? I'll give it to you." 0

I turned my face away, unwilling to respond. 0

Jiang Yu grabbed my arm and said coldly, "Su Mei, we need to talk." 0

"I have nothing to discuss with you." I struggled, trying to distance myself from him. 0

Jiang Yu seized my other arm, forcing me to look at him. "What are you going to Meng Jiangnan for? Are you in debt again?" 0

"Su Mei, how did you become like this?" 0

I was momentarily stunned before I realized what he meant. 0

I replied flatly, "What I do is none of your business." 0

"Jiang Yu, stop meddling." 0

Jiang Yu's expression darkened. After a long silence, he said, "I'll give you two hundred thousand a month if you accompany me. How about that?" 0

I was taken aback for a moment before bursting into laughter. 0

So this is how he saw me. 0

Taking a deep breath, I pushed him away with force. 0
