"Come on, it wasn't me who provoked him; it was he who provoked me." Zhu Hui thought about how Yang Qianfan had been made a fool of earlier and couldn't help but boast in front of Tang Hui, saying, "You should have seen how embarrassed that Male Goat looked, with his face all twisted like pig liver and intestines. He thought he was clever, but he was really as dumb as a rock. I was sitting right next to him, and he didn't even notice me. His face was practically blooming with anger. This is probably the difference between herbivores and carnivores." As she spoke, she laughed heartily at Tang Hui. However, Tang Hui did not laugh; instead, his expression grew increasingly grim as he awkwardly blinked at her.
"What’s wrong with you? Did sand get in your eyes?" Zhu Hui asked curiously, noticing something off about him.
"It’s not sand in his eyes; he’s trying to give you a signal because he saw me! Silly." Yang Qianfan suddenly appeared behind her, speaking in a strange tone.
Zhu Hui's heart skipped a beat, and she dared not turn around. Pretending to be nonchalant, she said, "Oh! The principal asked me to wait for him here. Why hasn’t he arrived yet?"
Seeing her continue to spout nonsense while still standing there, Yang Qianfan became even angrier. He grabbed her shoulders and forcibly turned her to face him. Leaning down slightly, he glared at her and said through gritted teeth, "Do you think I'm an idiot? Trying to scare me with the principal? You think I’m really that naive?"
"I... I’m not lying to you; the principal really... really wants me to wait for him here," Zhu Hui stammered as Yang Qianfan pressed closer, feeling like a quail that had strayed from its nest.
"Principal, I'm so scared!" Yang Qianfan pretended to be frightened, patting his chest dramatically before suddenly glaring at her and shouting, "Do you really think I’m afraid of that old bald donkey? Let me tell you, I once made that old bald donkey beg for mercy on the ground, calling me 'Grandpa.'"
"Is that so?" Zhu Hui forced a smile and cautiously pointed behind him with her finger. "But the principal is standing right behind you!"
"Oh—really?" Yang Qianfan laughed exaggeratedly at first, then defiantly said, "Even if he's standing right in front of me, what can he do? Let me tell you, even if there were ten of those old bald donkeys, I wouldn't bat an eye." Just as he finished speaking, there was a loud thud followed by a sharp pain at the back of his head.
"Damn it! Who's attacking me from behind?" Yang Qianfan shouted angrily as he held his head and turned around to curse.
"It’s me—the one who made you call me 'Grandpa.'"
Yang Qianfan looked down and saw Principal Niu standing in front of him, furious and on tiptoes with hands on his hips. He was so startled that he froze in place.
“Cow... cow... cow...” Yang Qianfan pouted, struggling to get out the second word.
“What are you mooing about? Disrespecting your elders? It seems that unless I show you who's boss today, you won't learn your lesson,” Principal Niu exclaimed, jumping up in anger. He gave Yang Qianfan a few sharp knocks on the head and said sternly, “You will run twenty laps around the school playground as punishment, and then write two self-reflections to submit to my office before the end of the school day.”
“Ah—why do I have to submit two reflections?” Yang Qianfan curled up in confusion.
“One in Chinese and one in English. If you misspell even one word or character, you'll have to run another twenty laps around the playground,” Principal Niu replied.
“What—writing a reflection in English too? Isn't that a bit much, Principal?” Yang Qianfan straightened up in anger, spitting out his words as he argued back.
“You can skip it if you want, but then I'll just call your parents to come help you write it. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to assist you,” Principal Niu threatened with a mocking smile.
Hearing that his parents might be involved sent a chill down Yang Qianfan's spine. Gritting his teeth, he reluctantly replied, “Fine—I'll write it, I'll write it.”
Seeing him comply so easily, Principal Niu nodded approvingly and turned to Zhu Hui, who was standing nearby. “You’ll be in charge of supervising his twenty laps. Make sure you don’t go easy on him!”
“What? You want her to supervise me? She’ll take this chance to make my life miserable!” Yang Qianfan was terrified at the thought of Zhu Hui being assigned to watch over him.
“What’s wrong? Do you have an opinion? Even if you do, keep it to yourself,” Principal Niu shot him a fierce glare, asserting his authority and forbidding any objections.
Yang Qianfan dared not say another word. With his head down and a dejected expression, he sighed heavily, lamenting how unlucky he felt today.
Principal Niu, seeing that he had fallen silent, pulled out a red booklet from his belongings and handed it to Zhu Hui, instructing her to organize its contents and submit them to the administration office before turning to leave.
“Ah! Principal Niu was right behind you, but you refused to believe it. Well, the facts prove that you really are a fool,” Zhu Hui feigned sympathy, furrowing her brow and shrugging her shoulders in mock concern, shaking her head with a sigh.
“Stop gloating over my misfortune. I warn you, if you think you can take advantage of this situation, I won’t let you off the hook after school,” Yang Qianfan warned Zhu Hui, pointing at her with gritted teeth.
“Who has the time to bother with you? If you hadn’t been spouting nonsense and insulting the principal, I wouldn’t have wasted my lunch break supervising your running.”
“You—”
“What about me? You’d better run fast, Male Goat. I’m not a shepherdess; I don’t have all day to spend on herding sheep,” Zhu Hui said firmly, pushing him toward the sports field to supervise his running.
