Li Yunye had been in Hongmen for many years and had only taken one disciple, White. It was said that he made this exception because the Robert Family, to which White belonged, had once helped Hongmen many years ago. Of course, White's martial arts talent was exceptional, truly a rare find; otherwise, even with the Robert Family's past kindness, Li Yunye would not have casually accepted a disciple.
White was five years older than Mary, now thirty-two years old. Standing at six feet tall with a robust build and handsome features, he exuded a strong masculine aura—definitely a striking figure. It was hard to believe he didn't have a girlfriend; in fact, he changed partners almost every year. However, he had grown tired of that lifestyle, and his family was urging him to settle down. The ideal match for him was Alice.
Alice was well-known in the socialite circles of Beverly Hills. As the most cherished granddaughter of Jon Delson, she was adorned with glory and beauty akin to that of an angel, attracting countless admirers. The Robert Family had long sought to establish a connection with Jon Delson, and as the most outstanding young man in the family, White was expected to marry Alice.
However, Alice was notoriously difficult to approach. Being proud and ambitious himself, White feared rejection and thus turned to Mary to gauge Alice's interest first. As expected, Alice flatly refused him. But unexpectedly, things took a turn when Alice agreed to meet him.
This news thrilled White; he had long coveted Alice's beauty. Her agreement to meet indicated potential, and he felt eager to impress her during their encounter.
The other girl present was Mi Wei Er, Mary's close friend. A fashionista from the United States with millions of followers, she wore sunglasses and heavy makeup, dressed in a deep V gown that accentuated her allure.
"White, if today goes well, don't forget what you promised me," Mary suddenly said in Huaxia Language.
"I won't forget. Don't worry," White replied with a smile.
Mary's master, Yan Xiaotian, had died in Huaxia. Now without a mentor and unable to continue her training, she sought another master—Li Yunye was the most suitable candidate.
Mary introduced Alice to White while White would speak favorably of her in front of Li Yunye; it was a mutually beneficial arrangement.
"What are you two talking about?" Mi Wei Er interjected with some annoyance upon noticing Mary and White conversing in Huaxia Language.
"Nothing much," Mary replied with a smile before glancing toward the door and giving White a knowing look. "Alice is here; you need to step up your game. If you manage to win her over, it would be even more surprising than winning the United States Martial Arts Championship."
"Let's go greet her," White said with a grin as he stood up and adjusted his crisp suit before heading toward the entrance.
"Just sit tight; I forgot to tell you—Alice likes cool guys. If you're too enthusiastic, it might lower her impression of you," Mary advised with a laugh.
"You should have told me earlier," White shot her an annoyed glance but quickly composed himself, adopting a more serious demeanor.
"It's not too late now; after all, Alice is different from other girls. Those childish attempts at flattery won't work on her; only confidence can win her over," Mary said as she waved toward the door.
Seeing them from afar, Alice walked over.
