Su Han steeled himself and walked into the Inner Hall.
"Your subordinate pays his respects!"
"Ah, you've arrived."
Zhao Jitong, known as the "Smiling Fox," greeted him with a broad smile, " master Xu, this is Su Han. You wanted to see him, so I called him right away. Xiao Su, this is master Xu from the Internal Investigation Bureau."
" master Xu, I hope you are well," Su Han said, forcing the words out.

His words were laced with veiled insults; why couldn't he just say what he meant?
Su Han replied helplessly, " master Xu, I truly apologize. Our intelligence officer Su Yao..."
"Enough! Enough! You caught a petty thief," Xu Yuanzheng interrupted impatiently. "The story you spun is quite impressive. Su Han, whether I believe it or not, I have to accept it. It's like you've slapped me and then stuffed an unripe fruit in my mouth to keep me from crying out in pain."
It was no wonder he was so furious.
Originally, following this lead would have allowed them to uncover the enemy's base in Tiandu and achieve great merit soon. Who would have thought that the Royal Confidential Office would get there first?

"Su Han, don't think this matter is settled just like that," Xu Yuanzheng said coldly. "This loss is not just a blow to the Internal Investigation Bureau's reputation but also to my own. I will find a way to reclaim this face. If the mountain won't turn, then the water will flow; we will meet again one day."
His tone was more like that of a rogue than someone in charge of the Internal Investigation Bureau.
Su Han showed no fear: " master Xu, I apologize once again. It was my oversight; I should have consulted you before making an arrest. But how was I supposed to know that it was someone you and the Internal Investigation Bureau were watching? Next time Lord Chu Feng has a mission, I will definitely ask first if it's someone you intend to capture."
"You!" Xu Yuanzheng's anger surged uncontrollably.
This kid had some nerve; how dare he mock him?
“ master Xu, calm down, calm down,” Zhao Jitong said, feigning concern while secretly reveling in the situation.
The Royal Confidential Office and the Internal Investigation Bureau had always been at odds, openly and covertly competing against each other. Seeing Xu Yuanzheng so furious, Zhao could only think: Serves him right!
